Dean’s Message
The Ethiopian government is working to realign its higher education system so that it can contribute more directly to the national strategy for economic growth and poverty reduction.
The College of Medicine and Health Sciences is one of the oldest health institutions in Ethiopia. Established in 1954, the College is now a model institute for developing countries for its teamwork and unique teaching philosophy. It has trained health professionals for over fifty years and is a center of excellence. The College has grown to address the critical shortage of health professionals in academia, research projects and community service activities.
The College of Medicine and Health Sciences is located in the heart of the historic Gondar City and is home to thousands of medical and health science students. We make every effort to provide our students with opportunities to engage in intellectual pursuits and to acquire professional knowledge and skills. I believe that the College of Medicine and Health Sciences is an ideal place for study and research.

Dear Guests, Students, and Staff,
On behalf of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences (CVMAS), I would like to welcome and thank you for visiting our website.
The CVMAS has changed dramatically and achieved much since its establishment in 2003. It began with only one undergraduate program and has grown to three undergraduate and seven postgraduate programs, four farm units, and a veterinary clinic. We plan to expand even more; a veterinary teaching hospital is under construction, and the designs for construction of a post-mortem hall and abattoir are complete. We would also like to open research centers in different locations throughout North Gondar.
In addition to teaching and learning, College staff members and students conduct problem-oriented research, work to solve problems related to animal health and production, and provide community service. Namely, laboratory and disease diagnostics, outbreak investigations, animal health care, artificial insemination, short term trainings, animal production and health consultancies, and rabies and other serious infectious diseases control and prevention.
With the focus on the quality of education from day one of class to the graduation ceremony,our dedicated staff members are committed to helping you succeed in your academic journey.
